Gbomo Gbomo Express is a dark comedy written, directed and produced by Walter ‘Waltbanger’ Taylaur. This movie is the perfect example of kidnapping gone wrong… or is it? It has so much twist and turn as it continues to entertain non-stop, giving no room to take your eyes off the screen.

As the story unfolds, we get introduced to three interesting characters; Professional cooks and thieves Francis (Gideon Okeke), a young cook and petty thief with an expertise in Shawarma making and a little secret, Blessing (Kiki Omeili) a vicious thief, cook and girlfriend to Francis, and Filo (Gbenro Ajibade) a man with itchy fingers who derives pleasure in torturing his victims. Together, they try to make a better life for themselves as the cooking paychecks were no longer meeting their daily needs. With a kidnapping offer of 50 Million Naira, they decided to take a final deal as their ticket to the good life.

Austin (Ramsey Nouah) is a record label executive and an arrogant womanizer, who happens to be the target. About to sign a fantastic record label deal, he goes out to celebrate. He meets Cassandra(Osas Ighodaro),a gorgeous woman with a designer shoe fetish, and decides to take her home with him. He gets kidnapped along with Cassandra,  but things take a different turn when Cassandra reveals she is actually the step daughter of billionaire, Alexis Osita Park (Shaffy Bello Akinrimisi).

Wow, where do I begin with this movie, for the first time, I can actually admit to being entertained by a Nollywood movie from the beginning to the end. I actually got a tad bit sad when the movie was over. Yes, it was that good!

Every actor nailed their roles perfectly, I actually could see that a lot of effort was put into pre-production, like casting and rehearsal! Editing was smooth and created an easy flow and understanding of the story. Language was both English and Pidgin English with subtitles for easy translation.

I haven’t seen Ramsey Nouah in a lot lately so it was nice to see him in a movie again, and as usual, delivered his role brilliantly, although my favorites where Gideon Okeke and Kiki Omeili. I was so impressed with how natural these two were with delivering their roles, the chemistry was impeccable and their characters were unique and easy to relate with. This was my first movie with them both and I know for a fact, that I am looking forward to more of their movies.

Gbomo Gbomo Express is a must watch as this movie is a perfect combination of Action, Comedy, Drama and Romance with compelling cinematography and exceptional acting from everyone involved. Great props goes out to the DP and Camera Operator for taking risk with camera angles and movements. Fantastic directing as well as storyline. Sound was okay, a bit off sometimes, but nothing that can’t be justified.

Gbomo Gbomo Express currently holds a 7.2 rating on IMDB and bagged in two AMVCA nominations for Best Director (Walter ‘Waltbanger’ Taylaur), and Best Lightning Design (David Wyte and Paul Gambit).

This is definitely not your regular Nollywood movie, definitely one of the best to come out of Nigeria and one we all should see!
