“When Love Happens” is a 2014 romantic comedy written by Diche Enunwa and Temitope Bolade, Directed by Seyi Babatope, Produced by Kene Mparu, Moses Babatope and Seyi Babatope and distributed by FilmOne Distributions.

The movie is about an event planner, Mo played by Weruche Opia (Bad Education, Top Boy) who is single and desperate to get married. We follow Mo as she goes through a series of unfortunate dates, frustration with her promiscuous boss (Desmond Elliot), dramatic girlfriends (Beverly Naya and Oreka Godis), cheating boyfriend (Oc Ukeje) and eventually finding her true love with her closest male pal (Gideon Okeke; Gbomo Gbomo Express).

maxresdefaultA bit on the generic side, this movie is the perfect combination of “The Wedding Planner” meet “27 Dresses” meet “Something Borrowed” equals “When Love Happens.”

The movie felt way too long and quite predictable as expected but definitely left me smiling all through the entire story. It had a cast of stellar actors and it was really exciting to see legendary actor Bassey Keppy Ekpeyong on-screen once again and yes, he was still as charming as ever! He played the role of Mo’s dad, along side Shaffy Bello (Gbomo Gbomo Express) as her mother.

Desmond Elliot didn’t make much of an appearance but was definitely on his game when he did… Also a bit on the fuller side physically, but not so much to be fully surprised by.

When Love Happens (3)I am starting to take interest in movies with Gideon Okeke, he has definitely come a really long way from his days on BBA (Big Brother Africa) and honestly, I am really impressed by his genuine acting abilities! Oreka Godis is another fresh face to look out for! She is definitely one that won’t be forgotten anytime soon! From her distinct beauty to her impressive acting skills, I would have to say, she did steal the show even though she wasn’t the main character.

Her strong and commanding tone of voice, plus how much presence she brings with her on-screen gives me the chills all the time, and I mean that in a positive way. May I also throw in how incredibly gorgeous she is!  I have so much admiration for how confident she is in exhibiting her roles although a little worried that she might end up being type casted in the long run.

Other notable actors like Wale Ojo, Bukky Wright, Helen Paul, and Femi Brainard also made brief and remarkable appearances in the movie.

a72a0__Tripican.com-presents-When-Love-Happens-Bellanaija-October-20140013I am keeping my eyes out for the next movie from Seyi Babatope, this is the first movie I have seen, directed by him and I am very impressed.

This movie is a fantastic improvement and step up for Nollywood; I was completely blown away by how organized the movie was from start to finish.

Definitely recommend this movie and I hope to see more of these rising actors on-screen. They are definitely a breath of fresh air in Nollywood.
