Chandra Bahadur Dangi who held the Guinness World Record for shortest man in the world has died at the age of 75.
The Nepalese man who stood 1ft 9″ tall (54.6 cm) passed away on the Polynesian island of Samoa after being ill with pneumonia at Lyndon B. Johnson Tropical Medical Center in Pago Pago. He won his place in the record books on February 26 in 2012 after being found to be half an inch shorter than the previous holder, Gul Mohammed from India.
Mr Dangi later traveled to London two years later to meet the world’s tallest man, Sultan Kosen from Turkey, who stands at 8ft 2″ (2.48 meters).
Guinness World Records said in a statement that it was “deeply saddened” to hear of Dangi’s passing” stating that “he will be remembered forever as an iconic and extraordinary record holder”
