Former governor of Bayelsa State, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha has passed. According to reports, Alamieyeseigha had slipped into a coma on Thursday. He passed on Saturday following a sudden cardiac arrest at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital. He was 63 years old.
His death came as a rude shock to many as his extradition process to the United Kingdom was set to commence next week.
Many political observers are still in doubt of the genuineness of the reported death as a result of his history for jumping bail.
The late Ijaw leader was a PDP stalwart and a political Godfather to the former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan. The ex-President has played a major role in his return to active politics having granted him State pardon which enabled his participation in the last Senatorial election in Bayelsa State.
