A muslim, Sadiq Khan has now been elected first Mayor in any western city.
Khan who got elected under the umbrella of the Labour Party is making history as the first Muslim to ever be elected in a western capital city, In a city comprising of only 12% Muslims, this is indeed a political milestone and goes to show that Britain is making progress in the right direction
The 45 year old Khan won Zac Goldsmith, the son of a billionaire who ran for Mayor under the Conservative ticket amid a lot of religious tension.
