Rescue under way for 17 Miners in upstate New York who went down Cargill Salt Mine as part of their work shift but never made it back out. They are believed to be trapped 850ft down; in an elevator.
The Miners have been trapped for more than 5hrs, after an elevator experienced a technical error, plunging the Miners down below.
This Mine is located in the Finger Lakes region of New York State and believed to be the deepest salt mine in the United States; spreading over 18,000 acres.
The rock salt from the mine is sold to Ice companies, Ice cream makers and Chemical companies.
