According to Associated Press (AP), a man convicted of the 1992 rape and beating death of a woman has been executed via lethal injection in Alabama.
The execution of 43 year old, Christopher Eugene Brooks is the first state execution to occur in Alabama in over two years.
The execution took place today at the Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore shortly after the U.S. Supreme Court denied a last-minute defense request for a stay of execution.
Christopher Brooks was convicted of the capital murder of 23-year-old Jo Deann Campbell who he had first met at a camp in upstate New York, where they had worked together.
